After pulling out of his summer’s Rockin The District Concert (Swollen Members were replaced last minute by Shiny Toy Guns) it looks like Winnipeg fans will finally have a chance to see one of Canada’s top Rap & Hip Hop acts of all time.

For he record, I am a huge Swollen Members fan and have been ever since I was in Junior High. I own all of their albums and still to this day listen to their music. In the early 2000’s, Swollen Members were tearing up not only the charts in Canada, but were also putting Canadian Hip Hop on the map in the US and around the world.

In the past few years, Swollen Members have pulled away from making new music and touring due to legal problems (such as the much publicized Hells Angel’s bust at Mad Childs house), drug addiction, and record label/agent problems. Below are two recent videos where Mad Child openly discusses many of these issues. Got to give the guy a lot of respect for talking about these issues so openly. Drug addiction (especially Oxycontin) is no joke and really is a tough thing to get through:

Tickets for the show are only $21 and go on sale Friday, October 2. They are available through all Ticketmaster location including their website link Here. Also note that the show is on a Saturday night so there should be no work/school excuses. This event is restricted to those 18+. Below are some great videos of Swollen Members to get everyone pumped up. The first video is actually their newest song Warrior (Feat. Tre Nyce & Young Kazh) off their new album Armed To The Teeth. Personally I love the song, good to see the group getting back to their hardcore roots after taking some time off.
