I saw Tim McGraw last year at Dauphin’s Countryfest and although I am not a huge fan of country music, I really enjoyed his performance and gained a lot of respect for him as a performer. Also interesting about McGraw is his diversity. Not many Southern country singers would do a duet with a rap star like Nelly (that song, which is below, went on to be one of the biggest singles of 2005) and not many musicians in general can transition so successfully into acting (if you haven’t already, I highly recommend seeing the new movie Blind Side which features Tim McGraw alongside Sandra Bullock). If you are into country music then this concert is a no-brainer but if you are not, I challenge you to go out of your comfort zone and take in what is sure to be a great show.

On February 11th, 2010, Tim McGraw and his band, the Dancehall Doctors, will kick off an extensive North American tour in support of his new album, Southern Voice, which was released this week by Curb Records. The “Southern Voice” tour, promoted nationally by Live Nation, will commence at Qwest Center in Omaha, NE on February 11th and conclude at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Virginia Beach, VA on August 15th. The tour will stop at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.

With Southern Voice, McGraw once again pushes the bounds of his artistry with characteristic honesty, grit and soul, qualities that have throughout history exemplified the Southern voice. McGraw launched an impressive acting career with 2004’s “Friday Night Lights,” which he followed with “Flicka” (2006), “The Kingdom” (2007) and “Four Christmases” (2008). He co-stars with Sandra Bullock in the upcoming film “The Blind Side,” scheduled for release on November 20th.
