Welcome to the first ever Winnipeg Nightlife 2009 Halloween Events Guide. Due to the huge amount of events going on for Halloween, I figured the best way to cover everything is to provide a brief description of every event going on in the city in a single post so that our readers can compare and contrast all the options available in order to have the best Halloween weekend possible!

Halloween @ Whiskey Dix

What: For those of you that are 21+, Whiskey Dix is throwing a Halloween Party! Highlighting the night will be prizes for the best costume and a cash balloon drop where balloons will be filled with various amounts of money! Last year’s event was huge and there are no advance tickets so be sure to get to the bar early to avoid disappointment!

Akon With Girlicious And Danny Fernandes

What: Not exactly a Halloween Event or in Winnipeg but a big concert none the less. Last time Akon was here was with Wyclef, Sean Paul and Kardinal Offishall and Akon especially put on an awesome show. If you are looking for something to do on Thursday night and are willing to make a road trip this could be a great time!

Cost: Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and range in price from $42-72 dollars

Monster Chiller Horror Theatre

What: For those of you who are looking for some electronic music on Halloween night look no further then Monster Chiller house from the folks over at Sympton Technologies. Expect to hear House, Tech House and other popular electronic music genre’s from some great local and out of town DJ’s.

Cost: $5 Door Cover Before 11:00PM

Scream

What: For those of you who feel like doing some “raving” on Halloween there is the annual Scream event put on by Soundwave Entertainment, Crown Productions & Winnipeg Psy. This years event is going down at Pantages Playhouse and will feature 4 rooms of electronic music and more then 30 DJ’s! Headlining the event this year is German trance duo Kyau & Albert and American Producer Treavor Moontribe alongside a throng of top local talent.

Cost: Tickets are $35-$45 depending on when you buy them (the sooner the better) and are available at Shopgirl, Urban Bakery, Urban Boutique & http://ticketweb.ca

Commerce Socials Halloween Shocker

What: Everyone knows that Commerce Students are the hardest partiers in university so it only makes sense that they throw the craziest parties as well. The people from Commerce Socials hold a ton of parties each year and they are always insane (especially Halloween and Christmas). Last year tickets to Halloween sold out on the first day they went on sale to the general public. Last year this was the hottest ticket in town on Halloween and this year I would expect nothing less.

Cost: Tickets are $15 (unconfirmed, based on last years price) and available in the Drake Centre Lobby at University of Manitoba. Ticket go on sale first to Commerce Students then the general public. There is a limit of how many tickets can be purchased by 1 person and they ALWAYS SELL OUT FAST.

A Deal with The Devil

What: If you feel like dancing the night away to Canada’s Club DJ of the Year, Hi Fi is the place to be this Halloween! DJ Wristpect plays a very diverse selection of music including Mash Up, Rap, Electro and Top 40 to keep a crowd moving. Alongside him is one of Winnipeg’s top DJ’s DJ Dow Jones who always has a trick or two up his sleeve.

Cost: $5 Before 11:00PM and $7 After

Cowboys Halloween Hold-Up

What: For those people that want some gold old fashioned Country and Rock music on Halloween Cowboys will be the place to be. Expect a sold out crowd as Cowboys is usually quite hot on Saturday Nights so a lot of the regulars will roam to their usual stomping grounds. Make sure you dress up to have a chance to win the very generous $500 prize for best costume!

What: Feel like some heavy metal this Halloween? Then head over to Ozzy’s for a host of great bands and what looks to be the Halloween Rock event of 2009!

Risky Business

What: Contrary to popular belief, the Asper School of Business aren’t the only business students in Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg are out to prove that they can party just as hard by putting on Winnipeg’s only Blacklight Halloween Party at Hi Fi! They are also open until 3:00AM!

Thriller

What: If you feel like taking in some Rap/Hip Hop on Halloween then head over to Republic Nightclub to take in the Bundown Sound System who always bring out a great crowd and put on an awesome show!

Cost: Door cover is $10 before 10:30PM and $15 after

Asylum

What: Come party at Winnipeg’s newest downtown nightclub this Halloween weekend. Mystique is holding a Halloween party on both Friday (18+) and Saturday (21+) this year so everyone can have a chance to experience what is promising to be a truly unique event. Prizes will be given out all night!
