You are currently looking at the three newest partners of Winnipeg’s Mystique Nightclub and the club formerly known as Vivid Nite Club. All three of the men pictured above are no strangers to Winnipeg’s nightlife scene and have been involved in countless promotions as well as nightclub ownership and management.

-

Sheraz Ali (pictured left) is best known throughout Winnipeg as the owner of the promotion company Ali Entertainment which over the last number of years has thrown dozens of sold out parties at Winnipeg hottest venues. Sheraz also currently promotes for Republic Nightclub and has been involved in other weekly events and one offs..

-

Stephen Hua (pictured in the middle) is best known for being one of the current owners of WinnipegNightlife.Ca’s Best Nightclub Of 2009, Republic Nightclub as well as his own promotion campanies (Soundwave Entertainment & Sound Republic) which have brought in acts such as Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Lady Gaga, MSTRKRFT, & Flo Rida as well as thrown some of the craziest all night raves the city has every seen (including his very own after hours club, AM Afterhours). He has been profiled in magazines as well and the Winnipeg Free Press due to his efforts in bringing world class entertainment to Winnipeg.

-

Johnny Kien (pictured far right) was previously involved in Republic Nightclub along with Hua and Ali as well as throwing parties down in Mexico with SunParties.Com and many local events here in Winnipeg. Johnny Kien was also one of the masterminds behind the iMix DJ Competion which spawned dozens of other such competitions in recent months.

The following is the official announcement posted this afternoon from Stephen Hua’s personal Facebook account.

First Republic… and now Mystique and Vivid!

-

The rumors have been out there for months but now that everything is confirmed we felt an official announcement is in order!
-
As of May 1st 2010, myself, Sheraz Ali and Johnny Kien are officially part owners of Mystique Nightclub and the club formally known as Vivid. This is a great opportunity for us and is a result of many combined years of industry experience, entrepreneurial know-how and hard work (and partying!)
-
Our promotions and management team is committed, and now uniquely positioned, to provide Winnipeg with the best nightlife experiences that can be offered. Our goal is to create and improve on all different angles of nightlife, while continuing to raise the standards and expectations for the club goer in Winnipeg.
-
With these new clubs we will be implementing a similar marketing plan that has helped develop our first project together, Republic Nightclub, into one of the busiest (if not the busiest) club in Winnipeg.
-
Mystique, located at 441 Main St. in the Exchange District, is already established as one of the busiest clubs in the city, so our plan is to strengthen and improve on the already strong foundation that has been laid out for us. Expect improvements to the interior and exterior of the club along with some very exciting events and promotions.
-
The club formally known as Vivid, located at 1931 Pembina Hwy, will be renovated and relaunched as a brand new club by the end of summer 2010. This will be a new concept we expect will change the nightlife landscape in not only the south end, but all of Winnipeg!
-
My company Sound Republic Inc, will now be handling the promotions and entertainment for Republic, Mystique and Vivid. There are a lot of ideas in store that we cannot wait to implement with these new venues.
-
We would love to hear your feedback and your ideas on how we can improve your nightlife experience. Please keep your suggestions and comments coming and let us know what you like (and dont like). We aim to please ;)
-
I would like to personally thank everyone that has supported us over these past years. We are truly grateful for all your love and support, we would not be here without you. I hope you all are not tired of our Facebook invites and our BBM/text messages, because there will be a whole lot more to come!
-
Thank you again for everything!
-
Sincerely,
-
Stephen Hua

It will be exciting to see what these three bring to the table for both Mystique and Republic. Like Stephen’s official release states, Mystique is already well established and has a solid turnout week after week. After Vivid’s premature closing, it will be interesting to see what they decide to do with that space (a location that has proven before to be very successful with Coyotes). With 20,000+ people in their early 20′s only 5 minutes away at the University Of Manitoba and a brand new football stadium going up in a year and a half, this location could prove to be nothing short of a goldmine.

-

I know I am waiting eagerly to hear what will happen and as soon as I hear you can expect an update on this site.

I’m hoping the new club where Vivid was caters to the University crowd. Being a student there, we don’t like having to bus downtown or Windsor Park just to leave early so we can catch a bus back, or have an expensive cab ride. The only close club to UofM in the OC, and if you’re older than 16, you are too old for that club

  2. Hua For Prez says:

Stephen Hua should run for mayor! I’d vote for him he’s a pimp. Sheraz could be his campaign manager and spam the hell out of Facebook like nobody else can lol

  3. Jason says:

although a lot of people think that these guys are the big fish in winnipeg in terms of nightclubs and bars, there are a lot of other guys behind the scenes who really make most of the calls. Sabino Tummilo still controls all the downtown bars, Canad Inns controls the suberb bars, and Cary Paul owns a few (Palomino club and from what I have heard he is still the principal owner of vivid). also Steven Hua isn’t the only guy behind republic as a lot of people think. there are other investors and people making decisions there other then him.

  4. Clubs Are My Life says:

How about doing your version of that lingerie night that The O.C. apparently did a few months ago? I don’t know if they got cold feet and cancelled or if it went on or not, because the advertising seemed to stop once we got closer to the date, and I couldn’t make it that night, either. Hot chicks dancing and walking around in the club in lingerie and black high heels! Yummy yum yum. A new problem The O.C. didn’t have to deal with is that their night was in the winter, so ALL the girls in lingerie wore their coats to check in the coat check, I guess. In summer, would there be any problems with girls not bothering with coats and just going there/hanging outside the club smoking before and after dressed only in lingerie? I wonder. Hey, if I can’t make it on the night it does happen, I’ll be sure to drive around the club at 2:00 a.m.!!!

  5. Sean says:

Congrats Stephen, Sheraz and Johnny! I can’t wait to see what is going to be poppin off in the new clubs.

@Jason, why the hatorade? Is Diddy the sole proprietor of Bad Boy records? Is Canad Inns owned by one person who had no other investors? In all businesses there are always other investors and such.
Tummilo owns buildings downtowns that clubs may be in but it was highly publicized that he gave up his LC licence a couple years back.
Paul still owns Palomino as there have been no news from there but he has been dealing with health matters and it wouldn’t be so surprising that he relented the now defunct Vivid.
As for Republic, can you even back up what you saying? There probably are other partners and investors but how would you know who makes decisions? Companies appoint a CEO that will lead the company to profitable success. He/she is the decision maker.
It seems you are just spreading rumors that are unsubstantiated and pretty ignorant I must say.

  6. Morden says:

hua and sheraz are cool dudes. They should do well with both night clubs. and canadinns sucks.

  7. Alvizo says:

About time, prime location thats for sure. With the lid shutting its doors and the oc… well being the oc. The south is in need of a night club that caters to this side of town. Community bars always do well, Vivid hit a downfall quick possibly because of the look it had, name it had, image it had.

I don’t personally know the people above but from what i hear, they had a solid background, following, and a great reputation.

Republic has done tremendously well. Even though Hip Hop is not my cup of tea and in a “outer person” point of view – these guys know what they are doing.

  8. Sam W says:

    good lookin boys

  9. [...] weeks of rumors, Stephen Hua (the current owner of Republic Nightclub as well as one of the new partners involved in Vivid & Mystique) has finally announced publicly that his promotion company, Sound Republic, is bringing Drake to [...]

  10. Carly says:

I really hope the new club opening up on Pembina will be good! Coyote’s used to be the most fun place to go, not only in the south end, but in Winnipeg. The live, classic music always made for a fun night out!
