Readymix: End Of An Era September 2 2010

Since first starting three years ago, Readymix quickly became one of Winnipeg’s most consistent and highly regarded weekly events. In my opinion, the reason behind the nights success was that the promoters weren’t afraid of being different and constantly adapted and improved the night. At Readymix, you could hear music that no other bars in the city would play, see people who never went anywhere else and dance crazier then you could at any other bar (without looking silly).

-

It wasn’t only only the music (provided by resident Dial up and Dan L as well as numerous guest and headline DJs) that made Readymix but also the atmosphere. Drinks were cheap (always $2.50 specials), cover was only $4 (including free coat check) and there was often a theme attached to the night (see the full list below). People weren’t afraid to act like themselves (or completely different) as everyone was there to dance (which led to the appropriate nickname “Sweatymix”) and have a good time. Readymix truly put Osborne back on Winnipeg’s nightlife map and will greatly be missed.

The Readymix crew has always been supportive of WinnipegNightlife.Ca and we wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors (most notably Steve Aoki at Republic Nightclub Winnipeg).

We love Ozzy’s and we love Readymix. Our weekly dance night has been going strong for 3 years and we’re ending it on a high note.

-

On Thursday, September 2nd (our 3-year anniversary) we will be haunting Ozzy’s for one last time. Who knew back in 2007 that Ozzy’s even existed? Some clubs can’t even stay open for this long. At the time the three of us had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

-

To celebrate the romance and madness of the past three years,
Dan♥L and Dial-Up will be spinning rdymx anthems to keep your ass shakin all night long. Make sure to send us your requests. We’ll be compiling a tribute mix to thank all our regulars and everybody who has made this weekly a success. Winnipegers have amazing energy and have impressed every out of towner that we’ve had at Readymix.

-

Moving forward we want to focus our attention on unique one-off events and have the ability to bounce between different size venues. Which means if we want to do an intimate show with friends or bring international talent for a crazy huge party we can.

-

We’ve got a couple things already in the works this Fall;
Steve Aoki at Republic on Sept. 9th with Dan♥L and Dial-Up, a late night radio show, an art exhibit in the Exchange that’s yet to be announced, and other unions of music, art & wacky antics.

-

This is your last chance to party in true Readymix fashion!!

-

Due to the vast amount of music that we want to cover (3 years worth), the needle will be dropping on the decks at 8:30pm and going as late as the bar will let us.

-

With lots of love,
Kevin, Oana, Dan

“the atmosphere of Ready Mix is one of freedom where classic dance moves, like the lawn mower or the shopping cart, are not only accepted but encouraged.”

“After the closing of the collective the Readymix crew managed to not only save the Osborne underground club scene, they perfected it. Their formula of theme nights, cheap cover and hilarious homages to 80s/90s pop-culture mixed with cutting-edge Club sets the standard for any fun dance party.”
