Steve Aoki At Republic Nightclub Winnipeg September 9 2010

By no means will this be Steve Aoki’s first time in Winnipeg (from my count he has been here 4 times in the last 3 years including last summer at Republic) but that doesn’t change how excited I am for this show! Although within the electro scene there seems to be an increasing number of people who question his talent, he has had an incredible year.

In the past 12 months Aoki himself has released 2 high profile remixes (Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happines” and Drake’s “Forever”), grown his Dim Mak brand/record label significantly (signing new artists and furthering current ones), and played at some of the largest electronic music events of the year.

This guy always brings out an insane party that is not to be missed! Even if you have never been to an “electro” type show before I strongly recommend not missing this guy. For $20 you can’t go wrong and with some of Winnipeg’s heavyweight performers behind the promotion (High Society Events and Sound Republic) you know it will be a packed house.

The man behind DIM MAK RECORDS who founded and released artists from Bloc Party, The Kills, Klaxons, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, Mystery Jets, The Rakes, The Gossip, Envy, also is the to remix Michael Jackson, The Killers, Robin Thicke, Lenny Kravitz, Weezer, Chester French, Tiga, All American Rejects, Drake, Chris Cornell & more. In the past he has collaborated w/artists ranging from from Armand Van Helden to Laidback Luke, Afrojack, Boys Noize, The Faint, D.i.M., The Bloody Beetroots, & Junkie XL.
